Wines Around The World Tasting!

Join us this week for a tasting of Wines Around The World!  Our partner and friend, Robert Jackson, with Aleph Wines, will join us to pour a diverse range of wines from vineyards spanning the globe.  Starting in Bordeaux, we will then travel to Northern Africa and Hungary and end in Mexico.

We will start off in the gentle slopes and rolling hills of Bordeaux, France, with Crémant de Bordeaux Brut Nature of Winery Cru de la Maqueline.  This sparkling wine is a blend of 2 varietals, the Petit Verdot and the Merlot. Fresh with lively green apple flavors, this wine has a crispness and lively texture.  Nicely balanced with a fine, pleasant bubble.

Our next stop is the foothills of the Atlas Mountain range in Morroco for the Domaine de Sahari Vin Gris.  This rosé possesses a beautiful pink hue. On the nose and palate, the wine is bright and refreshing, with lip-smacking acidity. Floral-tinged aromas of strawberries and peaches follow on the generous palate, along with notes of Honeydew melon, hints of stony minerality, and a hit of baking spice on the long, zippy finish.

From there, we will travel a little farther north to the Tokaj-Hegyalja region in Hungary, where we will enjoy Disznókö Tokaji Dry Furmint, a single-variety Furmint dry white wine made by the Disznókö winery. This Furmint comes from plots with clay-volcanic soils that give it a subtle mineral touch that perfectly expresses the freshness of the terroir. Pale yellow with the greenish tint is typical of the Furmint grape. Fresh and aromatic with hints of white flowers and grapefruit. A palate of exotic fruits with pear and quince followed by a lingering mineral, salty finish. Refreshingly elegant.

We will end the evening on the North American continent in Baja, Mexico.  Our last wine is Casa Magoni Sangiovese Cabernet Blend.  In this blend, each variety is harvested and fermented separately. The vinification is done in stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness of the fruit. The wine has aromas of cherries and red raspberries, with black fruits notes in the background. Well-integrated tannins, more cherry and plum, and a hint of black tea on the finish.

We hope you will join us for this interesting and eclectic selection of wines from around the globe.
