In Memory of Our Beloved Sheryl

In Memory of Sheryl

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the
passing of our beloved manager, Sheryl Kennedy, on April 11.

Sheryl was much more than a manager to us; she was a pivotal
figure at The Wine Shop of Charleston and a dear friend to many.

Sheryl joined us in 2022 and made significant contributions
through her leadership and passion for wine. She was known for her kindness, warmth, and who can forget her fun glasses. She will be profoundly missed.

As we come to terms with this immense loss, we extend our deepest sympathies to Sheryl's family, friends, and all who knew her. We share in this deep loss together but also in the privilege and joy of having been part of her life.

Wines We're Tasting

This week, we will start our tasting with a toast to honor Sheryl. We will be enjoying a bubbly by Naveran. Naveran Cava Brut Vintage is a sophisticated Spanish sparkling wine that showcases the traditional winemaking craftsmanship of the Penedès region in Catalonia. Known for its crisp and refreshing palate, this cava blends native grape varieties to achieve a balanced complexity with fine bubbles and a delicate finish, making it ideal for celebrations and pairings with a wide range of dishes.

Sokol Blosser Winery

We will next sample wines from Sokol Blosser Winery. Established in 1971 in Oregon's Dundee Hills, Sokol Blosser is a family-owned pioneer in the region known for its commitment to sustainability and organic farming.

Evolution White Blend from Sokol Blosser is a dynamic and aromatic wine that combines multiple white grape varieties. This blend results in a lively and refreshing wine, showcasing tropical and citrus fruit flavors with hints of floral and mineral notes. It's crafted to appeal to a broad range of palates, perfect for sipping on its own or pairing with light dishes.

Evolution Pinot Noir is designed to be approachable and fruit-forward, offering a more modern, accessible style compared to traditional Pinot Noirs. It typically features vibrant flavors of red fruits like cherry and raspberry, complemented by subtle earthy and spicy undertones, making it versatile for pairing with a variety of foods.

Redland Cuvee Estate Pinot Noir is another distinguished offering, typically a blend of Pinot Noir grapes from different vineyard blocks within the Sokol Blosser estate. This wine aims to capture the essence of the Redland's estate's terroir, offering a complex profile with a balance of fruit, earthiness, and oak influences. It's a more structured wine, suitable for aging, and pairs well with hearty dishes.

Each of these wines reflects Sokol Blosser's commitment to quality and sustainability, with a distinct character that showcases the diversity of their portfolio.

Please join us on Wednesday to raise a glass in honor of our dear Sheryl.

Gratefully,

The Team of The Wine Shop of Charleston
