Celebration of International Cabernet Sauvignon Day!

This Wednesday we will be paying tribute to another one of the world's most popular red grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon. International Cabernet Day fell on Thursday, August 31. Due to the hurricane, we had to make a new plan. Let's turn back the clock and give National Cabernet Sauvignon Day another chance! Join us this Wednesday, September 27th from 5pm - 7pm!

This day celebrates the exceptional characteristics and rich berry taste that have become synonymous with Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Originating in the 17th century, this grapevine variation is the result of an accidental crossbreeding between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. Today, Cabernet Sauvignon stands as one of the most distinguished grape types, representing elegance and sophisticated flavor.

Cabernet Sauvignon is the most widely planted grapevine in the world and Tommy Oliver, with Grassroots Wines, will be here pouring some exceptional Cabernets from all over.

Comtesse Marion Cabernet Sauvignon

The Vic family leads this vibrant estate, located in Languedoc-Roussillon, France, with historical roots tracing back to the 12th century. Winemaker, Jérôme Vic, and wine expert, Aurélie Vicnow, in their fifth generation of winemaking, embrace sustainable farming practices, abstaining from pesticides and herbicides, and exclusively utilize fruits cultivated on the estate. In addition to the prevalence of the property's rocky volcanic terrain, they also possess areas with sandy clay and riverbed-derived topsoils.

This Cabernet is aromatic and perfectly balanced. It's redolent of blackberry, rosemary, and pure violet notes. Made from vines that are nearly 30 years old, grown on rocky soils along the coastline of Mediterranean France.

In Sheep's Clothing Cabernet Sauvignon

Renowned winemaker Andre Mack has brought back this Washington project due to the overwhelming success of his first vintage.

Black cherry and dark brooding blackberry balanced by bright lifted notes, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from both Wahluke Slope and Red Mountain in Washington state. The opulence of fruit is dominant, balanced by smooth tannins and a long finish.

Clos LaChance Cabernet Sauvignon

Clos LaChance Winery is a family-owned winery in the Santa Cruz Mountains, California. Established in 1992, it's known for its diverse wines like Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. The winery emphasizes sustainability through practices like solar power and organic farming.

The Clos LaChance Cabernet Sauvignon is 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 7% Zinfandel.  This medium body Cabernet has aromas of plum, blackberry, and green pepper and fresh blueberries, white pepper and plum on the palate.  Well balanced with mild tannins and long finish.

Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona ATEO

For our final wine, we'll be tasting a warm and inviting Tuscan Blend Cabernet and Merlot by Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona, a renowned winery located in the Montalcino region of Tuscany, Italy.  The estate, known for producing high-quality wines, has origins that date back to the 17th century and still keeps its historical heritage in a building called “Palazzo” (Palace) that was built by Fabivs de' Vecchis, Bishop of Montalcino and Abbot of Sant’Antimo Abbey.

The Ateo wine is a classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.  Displaying an intense ruby red hue, this wine presents an intense aroma profile characterized by lively herbal, spicy, and fruit-driven notes. Impressively structured and full-bodied, it is soft and balanced, revealing a notably velvety texture complemented by well-defined tannins. A wine of great personality, it unfolds with a lasting and memorable finish.

Please join us this Wednesday, as we honor this globally cherished red grape varietal, Cabernet Sauvignon.
