Special Wine on the Water Tasting Featuring Bodega Garzón Wines And Book Signing Event by Caroline Cleveland

We are thrilled to host another special event combining two shop favorites ~ wine and books!

Join us on Wednesday, June 26, for an event featuring Bodega Garzón Wines and "When Cicadas Sing", by local attorney and author, Caroline Cleveland.

Bodega Garzón Uruguay

Nestled in the idyllic countryside of Uruguay, Bodega Garzón Winery is a premier winemaking establishment renowned for its commitment to quality and innovation. The winery, established by Alejandro P. Bulgheroni and his wife, Bettina, was born from their vision to create a sustainable winery that blends modern winemaking techniques with the production of premium wines that have a strong personality and a unique terroir. They debuted their first vintages in 2010 and completed their advanced winery in 2016. Collaborating with enologist Alberto Antonini, they embraced a philosophy emphasizing that under ideal conditions, outstanding wines emerge when grapes are allowed to express themselves naturally and authentically.

Wines We're Tasting

Bodega Garzón Albariño Reserva

Bodega Garzón’s Albariño is a standout white wine, reflective of the winery's dedication to producing varietals that thrive in their unique terroir. Albariño Reserva exudes a distinguished wine character, featuring a nose of fresh fruit and white flowers. On the palate, it reveals citrus and mineral notes, perfectly balanced by crisp acidity and a rich, smooth finish. This wine pairs beautifully with seafood, salads, and light poultry dishes.

Bodega Garzón Pinot Noir Rosé Reserva

Pinot Noir Rosé Reserva is a sophisticated and refreshing wine with a delicate palate and mineral undertones. Aromas of red cherries and wild strawberries on the nose make it both appealing and versatile. This vibrant rosé is the perfect companion for Mediterranean cuisine, tapas, sushi, salmon, and roasted fish. It also pairs wonderfully with desserts featuring chocolate and cherry flavors. Enjoy it chilled.

Bodega Garzón Cabernet Franc Reserva

Bodega Garzón’s Cabernet Franc Reserva is a wine of great typicity and very defined personality with round and balanced tannins. Spice notes on the nose add to black and red fruits on the palate. This elegant red wine is a perfect companion for rich meats, herbaceous flavors, earthy components, and use similar cooking methods like roasting and braising, showcasing the wine’s ability to complement a wide range of hearty and flavorful dishes.

Bodega Garzón Tannat Reserva

As Uruguay’s flagship grape, Tannat finds an exceptional expression in Bodega Garzón’s vineyards. This Tannat is a bold and full-bodied wine, characterized by its deep, dark color and intense aromas of black fruits, licorice, and a hint of smoky oak. On the palate, it delivers rich and powerful flavors of blackberry, plum, and dark chocolate, supported by firm tannins and a well-balanced acidity. The finish is long and lingering, making it a perfect match for rich dishes such as roasted lamb, barbecued ribs, and strong, aged cheeses.

At Bodega Garzón, the philosophy is to create wines that truly reflect their origins, with a team skilled in viticulture, environmental care, and hospitality, all committed to delivering premium wines that capture the unique character and terroir of the region.

We feel they definitely accomplished their goal  ~ we think you will agree!

Special Guest ~ Local Attorney and Author Caroline Cleveland

In addition to the wine tasting, we're thrilled to feature a special appearance by local attorney and author Caroline Cleveland. Caroline will be joining us to host a book signing for her debut novel, When Cicadas Cry.

Native South Carolinian Caroline Cleveland brings together her lifelong passion for storytelling and thirty years of legal experience in When Cicadas Cry

When Cicadas Cry

In this stunning debut, Zach Stander, a young lawyer with a checkered past, and Addie Stone, his indomitable detective and lover, find themselves entangled in secrets, lies, and murder in a small Southern town.

Ideal for fans of mystery, suspense, and thrillers in the vein of Karin Slaughter's Pretty Girls and Stacy Willingham's A Flicker in the Dark, as well as for readers who followed the high-profile Murdaugh murder trial, held in the same small town as in When Cicadas Cry.

We look forward to seeing you for this very special evening!

Cheers,

The Team at The Wine Shop of Charleston and City Marina Spirits
