Clash of the Titans: California vs Bordeaux

Ring Announcer: Good evening ladies and gentlemen! And welcome to The Wine Shop of Charleston! Have we got a spectacular event for you tonight!* For the World Heavyweight Title, we have two powerhouses - a true clash of the titans!

In the Blue Corner wearing the red, white and blue trunks, coming in off of an unbelievable underdog win at the 1976 Judgement of Paris - California!

And in the Red Corner in the burgundy trunks, originator of Cabernet Sauvignon and the professed wine heavyweight of the world - Bordeaux!

These two leviathans of the wine world will duke it out for your tasting pleasure! Who will win? Which colossus will come out on top? That's for you to decide!

Round One

Schramsberg Blanc De Blancs Brut Sparkling versus Chevalier du Grand Robert Crémant de Bordeaux! The Schramsberg Blanc De Blancs was used for President Nixon’s 1972 “Toast to Peace” with China’s Premier Zhou Enlai. Schramsberg’s sparkling wines have been served at official State functions by every U.S. Presidential administration since. An official State wine against the Great Knight Robert. Chevalier du Grand Robert has a toast inscribed on their label: “Tu vis et je ne meurs jamais” which translates to “You live and I never die.”

Round Two

From Napa County, Oberon Cabernet Sauvignon versus Grand Cru Saint-Emilion, Les Cadrans de Lassegue! Named after the King of the Fairies in William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Oberon hails from the acclaimed cellars of the Michael Mondavi Family. The second label from the renowned Chateau Lassegue, Les Cadrans translates to "The Dials", named for the 250 year old landmark sundials that grace the vineyards.
