Double Platinum: A Wine Tasting Set to the Lyrics of 'Gypsy' by Fleetwood Mac
It's August and there's alot to celebrate!
August 1st was International Albarino Day. National Prosecco Day is August 13th. And being the music lovers we are over here at The Wine Shop, the hit single Gypsy, written by Stevie Nicks and performed by Fleetwood Mac, was released off of their double platinum album Mirage in August of 1982.
With these things as inspiration, we've decided to set a tasting to the lyrics of the song Gyspy. Yes, you read that right. Not a wine and food paring. Not even wine and cigar pairing. But a wine and song pairing!
We'll start, both this post and the tasting on Wednesday with some Italian sparkling wine: Zingara Prosecco. This is the easy one. Zingara translates literally to Gypsy from Italian.
Without further ado, however, here are the lyrics to Gypsy, the wines to accompany them and the method to our madness.
Back to the floor that I love
To a room with some lace and paper flowers
To the gypsy that I was
Well, you know that it does and
Lightning strikes maybe once, maybe twice
Oh and it lights up the night
And you see your gypsy
You see your gypsy
That remains
Her face says freedom
With a little fear
I have no fear
Have only love
And if I was a child
And the child was enough
Enough for me to love
Enough to love
She was just a wish
She was just a wish
And her memory is all that is left for you now
You see your gypsy, oh
You see your gypsy
Maybe once, maybe twice
And it all comes down to you
Ooh oh, and it all comes down to you
Lightning strikes
Maybe once, maybe twice
And (oh) it all comes down to you
I still see your (your) bright eyes, bright eyes
(And it all comes down to you)
