A Birthday Tasting - With Some Special Guest Stars! (I.E. More Wine Than Usual)

Hello Friends, Justin here!

For those of you who peruse our website, thewineshopofcharleston.com, you've probably come across the product listing page for Domaine Drouhin Dundee Hills Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley, Oregon. In the description portion for the wine, I don't talk about the wine's tasting notes, I don't say anything about it's geographic location - whether it be Willamette Valley or Dundee Hill, I don't even tell the cool story of the Drouhin family and how their wine roots go back over a century ago in Burgundy, France, where they still have a winery also. No instead I go the selfish route and talk about how I have a tradition of drinking this wine on my birthday every year and I've been doing it since I was in my 20s. I also go on to say that if you come in to the Wine Shop on December 1st, my birthday, I'll probably have a bottle open and I like to share. Well folks, we're all in luck, because this week's Wednesday Tasting falls on my birthday proper! So yes, I will open a bottle of the Drouhin Pinot Noir and share. But, I'm not going to just take a regular bottle off of our shelf to crack open. No, I'm going to go into my personal collection and open a Magnum of it for us.

Here's another little tidbit about me:

Obviously, birthdays and presents are synonymous. And I'd be lying if I said I didn't like getting presents, because I absolutely do. But another tradition I have on my birthday is that I like to give out presents too. And this year, I'll be sharing with all of YOU! We're going to our normal weekly tasting format, but the selections will be some of my favorites from the Shop. I'm thinking a sparkling Chenin Blanc from the Loire Valley, a Chablis, Frappato from Sicily and a Library Vintage Nebbiolo from Piedmont. And THEN, in addition to the Mag of Drouhin I'll have open for us, I'm also going to have bottles from my personal collection for us all to enjoy as well. Champagne Magnums, red and white Burgundy, Cote Rotie and plenty of other fun stuff! This you definitely do not want to miss!

So come on out on Wednesday the 1st and help me celebrate turning 27 for the 17th time!
